Edmonds Speech & Debate

Chapter of National Forensic League & National Junior Forensic League

Looking Forward to Success

Speech and Debate participation is highly regarded by universities as THE activity that best prepares students for the rigors of college-level work.  Former high school debaters are found legislating in the halls of Congress, presiding in US Courts, on TV and in film. Others become doctors, teachers, or aid workers.  Former debaters can be found in virtually every professional field.  What they all share is a background in critical thinking, the preparation to express themselves clearly, and the ability to look an audience in the eye.

Edmonds Speech & Debate was founded in September 2004, has competed at the State Speech Tournament every year since, and at Nationals in 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Our speech and debate team is open to Edmonds School District students in grades 9-12. Those in grades 6-8 may have an opportunity to compete as well.
